Clement Tires Intro's the LAS
Clement Tires, the brand that brought you the original Grifo cyclocross tire introduces the LAS model with tread that is perfect for the fast and hard course of CrossVegas.
In fact the tire's name pays homage to Las Vegas and the Dessert Breeze Park course that has hosted CrossVegas since 2007. CLEMENT is the official tire sponsor of the biggest cyclocross race in the U.S.
The LAS nail file tread has a short and fine file pattern at the center of the tire which gets progressively taller and coarser as it approaches the shoulder knobs. This creates predictable performance as you change angle when cornering and riding off camber sections while keeping straight line rolling resistance as low as possible. The LAS uses the same side knob as the Clement Crusade PDX mud tire for added grip in the corners.
Here's the editorial review from Bicycling Magazine:
CLEMENT says the knobby PDX does more than cut mud: Thinner knobs in the center are designed to roll fast across pavement--nice, because most 'cross courses have some tarmac. Based on feedback from pro racers, CLEMENT tweaked the design, including increasing the size of the leading edges of the center knobs for faster rolling. The LAS (shown) has a standard diamond-pattern tread, but the file knobs increase in footprint and height toward the edges of the tire, which improves grip in dry conditions. The tread forms a V pattern that improves traction in the transition area between the center and taller knobs.
